Once your design has been filed and registered, you have options for renewing your design registration.

Renewing your design

The initial period of registration for your design automatically lasts for five years from the filing date of your application.

After this, you may choose to renew and therefore extend your design registration for a further five years.

If you do not renew your registration, your design will cease.

If you choose to renew your registration for an extra five years, after a total of ten years your design registration will cease.

We will send you a renewal reminder two months before the due date of renewal.

There is a six-month grace period for renewal after the first five years of registration. You may renew your registration any time during this six-month grace period. However, a monthly fee will apply from the date renewal is due.

You can renew with online services using Visa, MasterCard or American Express (AMEX) and the renewal takes effect immediately.

Update your details

If your customer details such as your name or address have changed you will need to advise us in writing prior to completing your renewal.

There is no fee to change your details. Change of name or address requests can be made with online services. They cannot be accepted via email.
